Coding Euchre

I worked on a project for my Programming and Intro Data Structures class to code a game of euchre. Euchre is a super popular card game here in Michigan. The "euchre deck" consists of 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. The game is played with four people in teams of 2.

Rules of the game: Euchre starts by having someone set the "trump" suit. This trump is worth more than the other cards of different suits. The cards are otherwise valued in standard fashion with 9 being the lowest moving upwards to Ace. The goal of the game is to win more "tricks" than the other team. A trick is just a set of four moves where each player plays one card. There are 5 tricks in a round. Depending on the team that set the trump suit, a certain number of tricks need to be won to win a point. This is just the basics of the game. There are many smaller rules including special cards such as the "bowers" which are the Jacks of the same color as the trump suit. There are also special scoring rules that have been incorporated such as if the team that did not decide to pick the trump wins all the tricks, they win 2 points.

This project allowed for users to play with the computer using any combination that amounts to four players. To show the game, here is a video of me playing the game with the computer. We are only playing one hand to limit the size of the file.
